The Shiv Sena Party defied the Bombay High Court at it’s Dassera Rally while deliberately flouting Noise Pollution Rules. Awaaz Foundation recorded noise levels and sent them to the Police; the Police have now filed a case under the Environment Protection Act against the Organizers of the Rally.

Shivaji Park was declared a
 Silence Zone by the Bombay
High Court on 5th May 2010.
This is a big victory for the 
residents of Shivaji Park who
 filed a PIL against 
unbearable noise from 
political rallies.

The Union Environment Minister  Shri Jairam Ramesh has accepted  our petitions to deny permission to private helipads and conveyed the decision to the Chief Minister Maharashtra at a meeting on 6th July 2010

The Bombay High Court completely prohibited sand mining in Maharashtra; the Union and State Governments are changing sand mining policy in response.
